The show
was at a small outdoor venue called Soboba Casino which is east of Temecula,
California. The temperture at show time was in the high 90's. The hot temperture
didn't seem to effect the rowdy crowd of Skynyrd fans. There was no opening
band so we didn't have to .There was no opening band so we didn't have to
wait long to see the band. The band opened with a new song called "The Way"
which sounds like a cross between "Edge Of Forever" and "Workin' For MCA".
Gary plays slide and takes a slow bridge solo as well. For the next song "What's
Your Name" Johnny declares to the crowd that "Skynyrd's in the House". Before
"Simple Man" Johnny anounced to the crowd that "Last year we last our Brother
Leon and this song is dedicated to him and all the mothers in the crowd".
For "Mississippi Kid", Rickey played a madolin, Hughie an Acoustic Guitar
and Gary played slide on a Red Gibson ES335 guitar, this song was one of the
highlights of the show. The Medley for this year's tour included oldies but
goodies Searchin' and Things Goin' On. Sweet Home Alabama had Hughie give
his awesome intro that keeps getting better year after year. Alabama also
had a guest Female singing backup vocals with Dale and Carol. The Finale ended
the awesome show with Freebird, however the sound went completely out right
before Rickey's solo and didn't get restored until the very end of his solo.
The absence of sound didn't seem to bother the crowd too much as many fans
could be heard cheering Rickey on during his solo to which he didn't miss
a beat.
