Quite
ten years after his last productions, Jack Pearson, the ex ABB guitarist
for two years in the nineties, is back with this album which is in his
old band spirit. We have here a classical blues cover (Rvd Gary Davis
Oh Glory How Happy I Am), new versions of old titles (My
Old Friend, I Feel All Right, Find A Way)
with long improvisations, and some new songs. There are different style,
form the basic one with gospel very well played (Oh Glory How
Happy I Am), until a complex jazz rock, with a real boogie song
with a good slide guitar and piano parts. We are very fast in the spirit
of the album, and the diversity of the songs styles can show that Jack
Pearson is not only a really good slide guitar player. He is so gifted
with his guitar that he can play many different styles, and its
logical when we know he was selected to play with the Allman Brothers.
Bu here, we dont have any guitars duets or polyrhythm harmonies
with the drummer and the percussionist, the band with just a few musicians
is focused on the essential of music, even if Dennis Wage is able to
push his leader to his best. During this time, an excellent rhythm section,
with Mrs Pearson on bass guitar, gives the tempo for the good vocals
of the leader. |
