We have waited so long for this new Doc Holliday album, which is only a cover album (maybe some fans can be disappointed). But don’t be afraid, when Bruce Brookshire and his guys do such a cover album, we can be sure of the quality and that they don’t do it because of a lack of inspiration or for commercial reasons. They had the idea for a long time to give a tribute to musicians they really enjoy. That’s why we can find on this half-acoustic half-electric album Southern music big hits, such as ‘Fire on the Mountain’ and ‘Heard it in a Love Song’ of Marshall Tucker family. It is also logical to find the Allman’s ‘Midnight Rider’ and ‘Melissa’. ‘The Ballad of Curtis Loew’ ballad (Skynyrd) is wonderful, such as the surprising Lennon-McCartney ‘Run for your Life’ and ‘One after 909’. But, for me, the best cover is the wonderful and moving Paul Rodgers’ ‘Bad Company’ where the slide parts show us one of the most beautiful seventies classic rock song. So, here is this new Doc Holliday cd, but the most important is what said Bruce Brookshire about this tribute : Love, Respect, Honour, Admire, Inspire. It is beautiful to stay humble in the music business today and not to forget it!
Thank you Doc !
