Alligator Stew is part of this new generation of bands which try to rush into the "older bands" for southern rock music to live longer. Even if they can be close to bands such as Catawompus, Laidlaw, Rebel Train and the Régulators, they add their own touch and feeling which make them pretty different from the above bands. Being from California, and being die-hard fans of Lynyrd SKynyrd, their music is mainly swamp rock oriented. They released their first album some couple years ago and it was really well acclaimed in the southern rock community. They're now back with this live release to confirm they're a great band, mixing ballads suxh as "Missin' my friends" and hot boogie songs such as "Two wheels". Gary Jeffries and his buddies have done a great job and this album should be really well appreciated in the blues-country-rovk community. The covers of "Green river" and "Suzy Q" show their deep respect of Creedence Clearwater Revival, and with "Louisiana man", we have all their bayou influences (where Gary wpent a few years). With their rock, and not hard or heavy, sound, they're surely get more and more credibility in the community of die-hard fans.

We are very lucky, as Halycon Records, brings us great gifts : after CATAWOMPUS and LIZARD, here is ALLIGATOR STEW. With his southern rock, slide guitar, harp and the Gary Jeffries 's deep voice, we certainly have one of the "Album of the Year". Two songs come to the attention,  the great "Blood Money" (two versions here, an accoustic and an electric one) and "Mad Dogs Saloon".
