Being a die-hard fan of the Allman Brothers, it was obvious to me that I had to discover this italian band and the four albums we receive at the office. Bluesdogs is not a traditional cover band. Of course, they cover ABB's songs but they don't play these titles note for note, they bring their influences, and their own sensibility. Some ones may be surprised, but the ABB's spirit is here : solos are improvised. We received four albums, three live and a studio demo. I must admit I've been a bit surprised by the studio demo as they didn't capture the energy they have on stage in this recording. They have a new keyboard player who brings them much more dynamics in their playing, as you can hear in their latest live recording, "Live at L'Aquila". A band to discover. Dominique Turgot |
