The Netherlands is certainly not the country where you'll find many southern-rock bands, but the ones we discovered are really good ones, such as Moonshine. Now, it's Gasoline's turn. Released back in 2000, this album, "Southern spirit", gets a real good southern sensibility, mostly because of "Skinny Kras" and his whiskey soaked voice typical from the bad southern boys full of feeling, which gives you shivers on ballad songs like "Take it easy" or "All we got". For the rock songs, they have some kind of a hard and heavy sound of guitars, which is pretty enjoyable, and you can hear influences from great bands such as Gov't mule ("Carry on") or the Allman Brothers Band ("My Hometown"). For sure, Gasoline is a really southern rock band. John Molet |
