For sure, Laidlaw is a great band which perfectly mixes the southern rock roots and the actual atmospheres and
sounds. Their first release was a great album with the addition of two famous female vocalists, Dale
Krantz-Rossington and Carol Chase. This new album is a prefect continuity of the first one with a remarquable
effort on the arrangements. Songs such as "Knuckle Shuffle" or " Brings my baby Down" are pure rock'n roll jewels.
The ballads are just great and I really love the tribute to Ronnie Van Zant with the song "Ode to Ronnie" whose
lyrics are structured around "I know a little", "Call me the breeze", "Don't ask me no questions", "Simple man",
"Whiskey rock’n roller", among others.

When I got a new album, the first thing I do is trying to find interesting things and names on the cover.
Well, first, Laidlaw has really nice girlfriends. Second point, Nikki Sixx is the producer. Waouh!!! After the very first listening, the music has, for sure, its roots deep in the South. Third point, Tommy Roberts's voice is really close to Kevin Dubrow's from Quiet Riot (remember, I'm a die-hard heavy metal fan). The ten songs from this album are all great ones. Guitars, twin guitars, slide, piano, everything, in this alum, is great ! Hervé Boucher |
