For already some years, some southern musicians play some blues and give us nice recordings. Here are the magic four -Mark May, Chris Anderson, Dave Chastain, who, after Rockin’ Roulette, plays the bluesin Peoria clubs -he gave us a nice blues cd in 1992 « Something for the Pain » - and now, here is the fresh Rocky Athas, who, like Mark May, comes from Texas. He was famous because he palyed on Black Oak Arkansas last cd « The Wild Bunch ». he gives us here a nice blues goldmine, with Larry Samford on vocals, and it reminds us of Peter Green, especially on « No More ». Rocky’s guitar has a nice sound with many different feelings, between boogie blues in « Long Run » and sweet blues in « That was Then, This is Now ». This cd is obviously a great performance, but for real fans, maybe it will be hard to find it ! Be patient, it is worth while.
